Workshop

Printing presses for lithography and etching weigh very much and putting them into an atelier requires a lot of care and labor that even professional printmakers are not readily doing it. The cumbersome access to printing presses often discourages many art-school graduates from carrying on their work.

Workshop OM, established in 1981 when it moved from Kamakura to Shin-Yokohama, provides both established and emerging artists with access to a wide range of printmaking equipment and professional support.

Membership

Workshop OM currently has 100 members, including established and emerging artists. It is a unique centre open for all people who have passion for printmaking.

Facilities

Workshop OM has 7 presses for etching, 5 presses for lithography. All the equipments, from little etching needles to custom built sinks and presses, are well maintained and tuned so that members can use them in the optimum condition.
It rents map cases for storing works and plates and tool boxes as well. You may show up empty-handed and can make a piece of work.

Courses

Print House OM resumed in April, 2010, an introductory course of printmaking.
Chief printer, Masashi Ozaki, who has a long-term experience in leading art courses in public museums in Setagaya, Machida, Yokohama, instructs and guides students through the wonderful world of printmaking.
Ozaki’s coaching and instruction are powerful and enlightening enough for some people that it set the stage for them to become professional artists. Please feel free to contact us if you are keen about learning printmaking.
